Busman Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 Has anyone fitted a tow bar themselves or should they really be left to the dealers. I have fitted one years ago to a Mk5 cortina but have not been down that road for some time. Also anyone give an idea on prices? Quote

johnb80 Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 No sweat, dead easy, even the holes are drilled already. I used towsure and it was fine, twin electrics. Regards - John Quote
Guest MATT Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 i have had a fixed tow bar fitted for me, i now wish i had a removable tow bar, as sometimes, the sensors pick up the tow bar, and give false warnings, usually when the cover isn't quite on right. a lot of people seem to go for towsure MATT Quote
dave_m Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 I had mine fitted professionally this time due to lack of time to do it myself, but it is a very simple DIY job, wiring is no problem either you can find the wiring details on the internet easily. Quote
Another?Maybe! Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 Just had a towbar fitted professionally to the Gal, cost Quote
Guest MATT Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 ive got the alko ball, and the alko cover, when i first had it, my sensors would just think there's a wall there, but then i removed the covers on the electrics, and it works fine, most of the time. however, if the cover on the ball, isnt on tight, then it messes with the sensors. i think you can get the sensors adjusted, but it all costs money  :) i still wish i had gone for a removable ball :) MATT Quote
Another?Maybe! Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 Removable ball for Witter towbar is another Quote
johnb80 Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 The sensors won't 'learn' anything, theres no intelligence in there artificial or otherwise. Regards - JB Quote
