johnb80 Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Make sure ALL of the electrics work, check the aircon, smooth changes from the box with prompt kickdown, make sure there's shed loads of pulling power at 1800 rpm or thereabouts, no excessive smoke when very cold from the aux heater, no water leaks into the footwells. Kick the tyres, have a cuppa, get em to give you a warranty that covers everything and ENJOY !!!! Regards - JB Quote
GSMGuy Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 Aftera nightmare with a 115 Auto, that had 2 boxes and 4 valve chests in 12 months..... I'd say .. Smooth changes up and down the box, look for a "staggered" change between 2/3 and 3/4 ie, the change takes place in 2 definate stages, rather than one - this is a sure indication of clutch pack weakness, a known fault - rebuild kits have uprated components. Also make sure you get to drive it from STONE COLD as some problems go away once warm...... Plus the usual, aircon, aux heaer (should be on pretty much every start at the mo  ) Mike Quote
Guest land rovers suck Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 thanks guys  i feel really happy with my new car :( Quote
johnb80 Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 There are one or two horror stories around as there are with any car, I think it's fair to say the majority of diesel auto owners are happy and have not had the unfortunate experience mentioned above. I thinks if I remember correctly that GSMGUY chipped his Gal to produce loads more power...... maybe that too has some contibutory factor ? Regards - JB Quote
Guest MATT Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 ive been very happy with my galaxy, its been one of the best cars ive owned, ive had no major trouble with it, and you cant beat an auto. MATT Quote
