Ogben Schmutzel Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 Hi All, A couple of weeks ago the glow plug was replaced by local garage. After that the aux worked but smoked a lot possibly due to crap that was in it. Switched off and worked again. Garage says operation was intermittent not continuous. Got the car back and heard it working but whether it was firing I didn Quote
Masked Marauder Posted November 19, 2005 Report Posted November 19, 2005 The wires to the connector for the glow plug is only crimped onto the connector and look fragile. It could be that. Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted November 21, 2005 Author Report Posted November 21, 2005 MM, Garage just looked at it and from what they said you were bang on. It seems that my glow new plug is a modified version where the connection is not on top of it, instead the joint on top of the plug is soldered (or similar) and the connection to the cars wiring is further away. That connection had not been made properly. Fixed all now working fine. Only remaining question is how long should the Aux Heater take to switch on. Seems to be about 10 minutes at the moment but will wait till it all settles down and see. At the moment I am just really grateful that it works at all!!! And I think there is another that is discussing this. Cheers.Oggy. Quote
