I wonder if anyone knows what this problem could be:

when i put my galaxy into reverse, it either cuts the engine or makes very load noises and gives

too much power (without pressing the accelerator), so much that its jumped backwards and smashed into a wall. does anyone have any ideas???

thanks

No not having a bad day at all, you'd know if I was

It does irritate me when the absolute minimum of information is given and people are wanting help, a bit like going to the doctor saying I don't feel well and expecting a full diagnosis and appropriate treatment with no further information.

I disagree with your guess of diesel though, petrol is more likely to have idle problems than diesel. Petrol is more likely to stall or rev up when load is applied to the motor.

johnb80 here's more info:

its silver has a sunroof, crappy cup holders and very heavy seats!

just kidding (but the seats are heavy!)

and the man with the other wife is correct on which one it is.

it idles fine and has no problems when in drive (forward) only when its put into reverse.

thanks

Surely if auto they would be brake bands, if they're worn they slip giving less drive.

Do the revs increase when you select reverse? What sort of idle RPM do you have?

Are both cup holders in full working order ?

The revs do not increase any more than usual but the car moves backwards alot faster than it should.

thanks darul

i'll check when i get home from work to see what the idle revs are.
