Room In The Back?

I am looking to buy an 02 or 03 Galaxy for the World Cup next year following England around Germany.

 

I was going to buy a small camper van but I had a lie down in a friends Fiat Ulysse and found there was enough room to throw a foam mattress down and fit 2 in for a kip (just the 2 front seats in).

Me and the missus are both 5 foot 7.

 

What is the room like with no seats in the back ? Can anyone tell me the measurements at all - I cant find the dimensions of the floor space - anyone go to the trouble of getting a tape measure fr the distance of width at the narrowest part and the floor length from the back of the front seat and the back door.

Not a Galaxy but better for equiped for your needs? this is a Mitsubishi Delica and this version is a pop up camper conversion, but all models of this vehicle have fold down rear seats that convert to a bed :D they are available in short or long wheel base, low top or high, majority are TDI's and auto's

A 1.8 x 0.9 Metre sheet of plasterboard will go in (flat obviously) with a bit of room to spare, is that about 6' x 3'?

We have had the kids' bunkbeds folded down in the back, but they have full size matresses and matress frames and we could shut the back door no problems, much to the amazment of our Zafira owning childminder........

 

I have also had a pre-hung double glazed front door in there and that is over 6 foot 6 inches tall.

i reckon you could fit a "small" double airbed in the back! and leave the front seats in, their is enough length for me to lie in there (6ft) and enough width for 2 of me or even 3, but that's too close lol, then again, one me, and two ladies sounds good :o :o

I was going to try and top that with a picture of a Suzuki wagon R camper which I've seen, however image search has failed me. I kid you not though, a wagon R with a pop top and a cooker and sink. Cozy ?

I've always got air bed and doss sack in the back, never had a problem, but there agin, i'm easily pleased!!!

Reminds me of the old "Dads Army" episode where Corporal Jones butchers van was converted to run on gas by fitting a huge gas bag to the roof. :) :) :)
