Ogben Schmutzel Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 Hi All, Is this gonna be ok? I can't afford the full lead right now and just want to check Aux Heater error codes. I know that I have been told to avoid dodgy stuff but this looks like it will do the do for the freeware part of vag.com or am I being naive ..... again <_< vag.com lead Cheers.Oggy. Quote
Justice Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 I got my lead from this guy and it works with all Ross Tech versions except the latest version 5. something. Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted November 15, 2005 Author Report Posted November 15, 2005 Thanks Justice, that'll do for me.Cheers.Oggy. Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted November 17, 2005 Author Report Posted November 17, 2005 Justice, I notice that you have the VR6 but have you any idea whether with this lead I will be able to find and clear Aux Heater fault codes? Also whether it will switch on parts of the Aux Heater assembly? Cheers,Oggy. Quote
jimjamjo Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Hi Oggy How's this lead working out for you? Have you paid the $99 for the software Cheers Quote
Justice Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 The software is free ;) you just down load is from Ross Tech's website Quote
jimjamjo Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Thanks mate So it looks like the freeware will list all the fault codes and can clear them? A couple of more questions-The OBDII leads on fleaBay are for either Ford or VW - which one is right for the Galaxy?-Is the Galaxy in a drop down list when you plug the thing in? Quote
bigdaddy Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Yep I just bought one too,,,, Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted November 27, 2005 Author Report Posted November 27, 2005 Hi Oggy How's this lead working out for you? Have you paid the $99 for the software Cheers Its not arrived yet ;) But the good news is that the aux haeter, my main reason for getting it, is working ok now :o Cheers.Oggy. Quote
jimjamjo Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 Hi Bigdaddy Sorry to put a possible spanner in your engine but you need to check whether vag.com works with the petrol Gal. I looked into it and there's 3 manufacturer specs for the OBD2 plug. VW and pals have one spec (ISO) and Fords tend to have another I emailed Ross Tech and got a response from Andy Smth: Andy@Ross-Tech.com "VAG-COM works fine with the VW Sharan TDI, which is nearly identical to the Galaxy. We only guarantee that VAG-COM works with VW/Audi/SEAT/Skoda but it should work fine with your Ford Galaxy TDI. Regards,Andy" Quote
bigdaddy Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 jimjamjo ,,,, Thanks for that,,,,just my bloody luck eh :o ,,,,,I am only buying it to check the ABS,,,,if the cable dont work then I will put it back onto ebay for sale,,,,,, :D Quote
Steven.Langdale Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 This one has been covered before. Aparently the lead & vag-com works with everthing apart from the engine ecu. I've also recently ordered a cable (we were probably all bidding on the same ones!) so hope this is true. Steven Quote
bigdaddy Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 nope,,,we where not bidding on the same one I was the only bidder,,,,,I found over 50 vag-com cables,,,,,I got one with serial plug as my laptop does not have usb,,,,,I am not worried about the ecu part,,,,,As I said I only need it to fault find the ABS,,,,,must be great to be rich,,,,any faults just replace the the car lollll :o Quote
bigdaddy Posted December 3, 2005 Report Posted December 3, 2005 Hi guys,,,,,,,UPDATE,,,,,got the cable,,,,got the free software from rosstech,,,,plugged it in,,,,,bingo it works,,,,,,most of the functions in the software are disabled until I register and pay for the use of the software,,,,but I got the fault code for the ABS,,(front left not working),,,,,me a happy bunny,,,, :( :D Quote
