Alarm And Temp Gauge

Hi

Just bought a Modeo 2.0 Estate, 1997 model as a replacement as my last car packed in suddenly. The car is nice enough but it has a few problems.

Sometimes when you lock the door and the alarm is armed it goes off after about a minute (I am guessing that this is the time it takes to set). I am not too worried if the alarm works or not so I was wondering if it is possible to disconnect it at the door lock on the drivers side? As long as it locks I would be happy.

Also the engine temp gauge never seems to reach the normal operating range, although the engine is definately warm enough. Is this a problem? Does the ECU use this reading to determine fuel mixtures etc. Is it necessary to replace it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have a tow bar that they want to get rid of?

Cheers

Stu

The ECU works off a different sensor to the dash gauge. The ECU also controls the radiator fan.

They are both located on the thermostat housing, and if your draining the system to change one - change both. They are under a tenner each. Also the thermostat is a good idea on a new (to you) car.

The alarm has a rest period before setting. See Mirezs site to tell you more/fault find.

Thanks for that information.

Had a look at the Mirez site which is really useful.

Thanks again.
