Ogben Schmutzel Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Hi All, Try this. Go to search, Alahambra, [year], then Auxiliary Heater Aux Heater Repair? The last choice was Auxiliary Heater, but note that the description in the link says 'Additional Heater'!!! I know that there has been discussion on exactly what the terms Auxiliary, Booster, Secondary, Additional etc, etc Heater refer to. What do you reckon? Is this link refering to the diesel powered 'auxilary' heater that is under the car by the back near side wheel? I don't want to buy something that turns out to be for the second heater that is inside the car. Cheers.Oggy. Quote
Jeff115 Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Hi Oggy, Yes, I subscribed to this and it does describe my booster heater plus other types of additional/auxilliary heaters. There is a manufacturers plate on the control unit side of the booster heater e.g. mines a 2002 Zetec non-climatrronic and has the EBERSPACHER 5000 watt booster heater unit identified as D5WZ - fault diagnostics (applicable to VAG-COM), removal, dismantling are covered in this workshop manual. Regards,J. Have been a bit infrequent on the forum recently - are you still having trouble with your booster heater? Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted November 14, 2005 Author Report Posted November 14, 2005 Hi Jeff, Glad to see that are back around! In answer to you last sentence -- Yes!! The local garage where I get my Alhambra serviced recently changed the glow plug because back in March SEAT had diagnosed it as open circuit. First time on it filled the workshop with smoke apparently, but seemed to work ok. Not having VAG.com, but they do have something else that they used, they did not find or clear any fault codes. However it had worked!! After that I heard it working a few times but I have to admit that I did not get under the car or anything to see if it was hot or Quote
Jeff115 Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 Hi Oggy, I managed to fix my booster heater recently enough - it only took me so long (several dismantlings and component checkings later :) ) because I believed a Ford mech. who assured me that the glow plug was fine - it's been sweet ever since with no smoking :P After I fitted the new plug (and cleared a Flame out DTC using VAG-COM) initially there was a lot of smoke but not since. Your 'local garage' must have cleared the glow plug open circuit (DTC 01491) to allow it to work again. Did they mention this or that the replacement plug was a revised version (Beru 0100.226.340)?Just a noise. The few times it Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted November 14, 2005 Author Report Posted November 14, 2005 Jeff, The part number of the glow plug that they fitted was 7M3 963 319A and I have been having a chat with MM at the end of this thread concerning the apparent discrepancy!! I notice that you have also been contributing to that recently. The part no discussion is on page 8 of the thread. Agree that it is a huge leap to go to a new unit from what is happening here. Thanks for your input.Oggy. Quote
