Update On "cold Hose"

I'm in READING if theres anyone local with VAG-COM i would be grateful. Once i can find out the actual temp i will know if i have a problem or not. How and where can I get VAG-COM and what do i need to connect to my car?

It works a treat, its paid for itself already with the faults i have diagnosed and rectified myself

I would have thought it would need to be the opposite of high resistance to make it read high.... super conductor cabling perhaps ?

IIRC the temp sensor increases resistance with temperature. The easy way to test this is to disconnect it and see if the gauge goes into the red (it did on my Golf)-

 

MARTY did you change the sensor? (as you implied in an earlier post)

If thats the case I stand corrected ! All the other ones I've been involved with, short to the block = max temp, open circuit = cold.

seatkid-- I got a new coolant temp sensor from GSF but no time to fit it till Saturday. Just fitted new cap but havent been anywhere to test it yet, will post result asap.

Hi, sorry but we have the same problem, just wanted to let you know - we had the radiator, 3 thermostats, water pump, cap and a few other bits changed
