shorts Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 hi all just joined, i have just bought a new lock set for my car from ebay which comes with all locks and ignition barrel, it comes with 2 keys and says its for my model, however it dosnt come with a red key, so does anyone know if i am going to have any problems when fitting the new barrel and if the remote centeral locking will work with the new key (if its got it, it didnt come with a key for it but have read they are all fitted with it) cheers shorts Quote
Masked Marauder Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 The keys need to be the correct transponder keys and will need programed to the car. This will need to be done at the dealers or perhaps by someone with VAG-COM, what are do you live in, perhaps someone here can help for a small consideration. Paste a link to the auction and we can look and see what you have bought. Quote
shorts Posted November 10, 2005 Author Report Posted November 10, 2005 hi thanks for you quick reply, this is the item http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...Y_BIN_Stores_IT i live in richmond surrey cheers Quote
Masked Marauder Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 Yes, they are the correct keys, one remote, one standard. But there are two versions of the transponders so as long as yours is pre year 2000 you should be fine. As for programing them, VAG-COM will do it, I am in Northants though. Perhaps someone else can help you on that side of things. Do you currently have any keys that work, it may be possible to swap the chips over? Quote
shorts Posted November 10, 2005 Author Report Posted November 10, 2005 lol key that work, lets see i have a red master key, a ignition key that also works on the boot, a key for drivers door, and another key for the passenger door, i have keys coming out of my ears lol, this is the reason that i wanted this set so that i dont need all those seperate keys. so would swapping the chips work, and if so where are they how do i get them out. cheers for your help shorts Quote
Masked Marauder Posted November 10, 2005 Report Posted November 10, 2005 OK, if you have a working red master key you can program your other keys up with that! Quote
shorts Posted November 10, 2005 Author Report Posted November 10, 2005 but will i still be able to though as i am getting a new barrel as well? or do you mean program them first then fit the new barrel? and keep the old barrel incase i need to programe again i spose Quote
Masked Marauder Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 When you have fitted the new barrel, insert one of the new keys and use it to carry out the red-key proceedure, but hold the red key next to it so the PATS system thinks the red key is being used. Quote
shorts Posted November 11, 2005 Author Report Posted November 11, 2005 ah i see, well thanks for your help, sorry if i sound like a bit of a noob but this is the first ford i have ever had, ive always been a vauxhall man before but with 4 kids i needed a bigger car i the galaxy seemed nice. cheers terry Quote

shorts Posted November 12, 2005 Author Report Posted November 12, 2005 anyone got any ideas, i read somewhere that its just that one screew, but there must be some type of linkage internally, so any help on removal and refitting of the handles would be great Quote
shorts Posted November 13, 2005 Author Report Posted November 13, 2005 changed the locks now, all went fine, seems like i dont have remote centeral ocking though, just orders a manual now so i can see how to do the boot lock and the ignition barrel. Quote
