Guest charly Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Hi. I'm looking at buying a Ford KA and looked at one at the weekend (private sale) which was a Y reg standard model with low milage BUT when looking under the bonnet the only thing which worried me was a part which I can only explain as about the size of an oil filter which had a metal hose coming from it which was positioned to the left hand side of the radiator/front grill... I don't know what this part is called or does but the thing that worried me was that it did have rust on it (also the pipe leading out of it). Is it a bad sign for this part to have rust on, considering the age of the car? Or if anyone knows what this part is it would be much appriciated. Thanks!
GSMGuy Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Sounds like an A/C dier/receiver.. Does the car have aircin? Mike
Guest charly Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 No, it hasn't got aircon I've been trying to find a diagram of under the bonnet, without buying a haynes manual, I can't seem to find one. Its a small'ish round loooking part which I saw when looking to the left hand side of the grill... I want to buy the car as it seems like a good bargain, trustworthy people and all paper work BUT that just sticks in my mind and would be alot more assured if rusting of that part is normal Don't really know how else to explain it?
Guest docker Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 hi charly i think the part your on about is the CAT. unless this is too far back in the engine bay, ( i may be way off ) its bolted directly to the exh. manifold rust is normal as being on the exh. unless anyone knows any other. cheers PHIL
Guest Markwalker Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 I think you will find that it is the power steering pump. Im on my second KA now and they were both rusty looking. Its nothing to worry about.
