Guest mee Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 I hope that someone can shed some light on this for me...I have a Sharan (02 reg) with simple air con. I have noticed, now that the cooler weather is here, that I cannot set my front vents to produce cold air, ie as cold as it is outside. As I turn the temp dial from Red (hot) round to Blue (cold), the temp of the air coming out from the vents does reduce, but never gets 'cold'. There is always an element of warm air being blown out. I also feel that the Air Con does not get as cold as it should, but it does work. Is this a feature of the car, or have I got a heater control adjustment problem? All thoughts and comments are 'warmly' welcome. Regards Meetoo Quote
gazza007 Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 Hi Mee,Welcome on board.I find that temp controls can be a bit iffy & don't always respond immediately when turned, especially air flow direction. On a couple of occasions the unit has stopped working apart from the fan speed so I've had to reset the unit by unplugging it at the rear.Temp controls AC will not feel that cold this time of year & will not work when temp is 5c or less.Best waiting till spring then do some tests with thermometer etc.If you do a search 30 days older you will find that AC has the biggest number of threads. The vent system on this car is not the best. Quote
Guest mee Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 Gazza007 Thanks for the reply and the welcome. I hope that I dont have many causes to post in this section.... (in the nicest possible way !) I dont think that the controls are misbehaving, however I know all about the aircon issues.... Mine died about a year ago bearing cracked up and lost that the 'fluid' - all fixed under warrenty though. Mine just seems to have a slight warming to the airflow when set to cold. This is mostly noticed when I have been driving for a while (motorway for about 30mins) Its almost like the cold intake path passes over the top of then engine, warming the pipes... Maybe this is a undocumented feature? who knows.... Next problem I need to sort out is the drivers window coming adrift from the electric winder window clamps.... second time its happend.... getting a bit boring now. Still, at least I can get four bedroom doors in the back and still have room for two passengers! Thanks once again for the notes. Meetoo Quote
gazza007 Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 I hate situations like this morning. You get misting up but it is too cold for AC to help with the de-misting, the Diesel takes a while to warm so you have to wait a little.I feel sorry for my sister, their Gal's Turbo has gone & they're due a bill for Quote
