Faulty Instrument Cluster (& Video System)

Have had this fault on and off (literally!) since car was new - central cluster lights & computer go blank and a warning light stays on.

 

Lifestyle Ford were never able to find fault while under warranty, normally brake warning light stays on and central display goes off for a couple of days. They had it in yesterday and say I need new instrument cluster at

Don't now about the judder or video problem, but surely the instrument cluster problem should be fixed under warranty? It was reported under warranty and they were unable to fix it.

 

I'd complain about it to ford - god knows if that will help though.

Write to the garage, remind them they had many opportunities to fix the reported problem during the warranty time and failed. The fault has continued and indeed has now become worse. Obviously the fault was present during the warranty period and therefore should be covered. If they don't agree to fix it take them to the small claims court. The sale of goods act goes well beyond the 12 months warranty often given by manufacturers of most items. I purchased a digital camera that failed after 19 months, the supplier was not interested, I took some advise, took the to the small claims court and on the principle that it was reasonable to expect a camera to last longer than 19 months, clearly it must have been sub standard when new and therefore I was entitled to a full refund and costs. Have a word with trading standards and see what they have to say.

Thanks for replies, I am going to ring Ford today as I agree that as the fault is documented many times with the service records of the dealer that it should be still covered under warranty.

 

Still looking for electrician to fix video system.
