Guest andys gal Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Hi everyone,The central locking is tempermental, sometimes when you open the car with the remote or the key it will open straight away other times when you try to open all you can here is this clicking noise coming from the front drivers side door & also at the back of the car on the drivers side where the cd changer is, while this clicking noise is going on all the doors are unlocked apart from the drivers door, half the time it will open but a alot of the time it will lock again, i have to keep on unlocking until it actually opens which could take up to 5 minutes, when i put the key in the drivers side it will only go a little way as if something is stopping it going all the way, i have no problems locking the car just unlocking, could it be something to do with the barrels or something electrical. :) I have a 1996 galaxy 2.0l ghia.Any help much appreciated. Many thanks for looking. Mauser Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Hi,I think in the past the wiring has been mentioned as being damaged where it passes through the door to the door pilar, if the cable is the same as the tail gate then I would at least check for any broken wires ?.Soz not much help as fairly new to Galaxies and mine's been reliable so far....biggest problem was wife backed me into a builders fence the other day then said "Stop" after I had hit it B), 30 seconds of ranting and then I chilled, after all its only a piece of metal at the end of the day.Simon Quote
Charliemuttley Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 Hi, Andy if you are still there, i have same problem- do tell if you sorted it.Cheers  Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 The noise from under the cd changer is the fuel flap locking mech, look up below the cd changer above the wheel arch and you will find it  unplug it and see if that helps? Quote
Philwalfc Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Hi Everyone, If you are still there Andy and Chareliemuttley, Here is my tale. My Central locking was locking then unlocking all in one motion with the remote and door key, sounds the same fault as yours. To cut a long story short and after a lot of checking, it turned out to be the Central locking motor on the faulty door. Cost Quote
