I have just put a new Air mass on my VR6,I know the old one was fu#ked, after changing do I have to reset error code in Vag com as it dose not seem to have made any difference to the cars performance.

I drove up to nottingham 300 mile round trip it w\as happy doing 80mph but took a long time to get there. The part replaced was original Bosch.

Exactly how do you know the old one was er..... not working ?

I don't think resetting it with VAG-COM would improve anything, but checking for fault codes may show the reason for the poor performance.

I had put VC on it and it showed a problem so took it off to give it a clean and the vains inside were nackered when I touched one with a cotton bud it fell off

I will have another look as soon as I reinstall VC on my new laptop,I just don't know enough about what VC can do and what it can't which is why I asked the question  .

I thoughts were if you identified a problem via VC and then replaced the unit it may be cabling / ecu (unlikely) at fault hence no change with new unit fitted.

took the big air pipe off today and it had had a small split that I had tapped up and the little split had become a big big split so air was going directly into the throttle body,I had a new pipe on order and it came today so fitted it and it seems to have solved my problem,I won't know until VC tests it.
