Justice Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 I have just put a new Air mass on my VR6,I know the old one was fu#ked, after changing do I have to reset error code in Vag com as it dose not seem to have made any difference to the cars performance.I drove up to nottingham 300 mile round trip it w\as happy doing 80mph but took a long time to get there. The part replaced was original Bosch. johnb80 Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Exactly how do you know the old one was er..... not working ? Quote
Masked Marauder Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I don't think resetting it with VAG-COM would improve anything, but checking for fault codes may show the reason for the poor performance. Quote
Justice Posted October 27, 2005 Author Report Posted October 27, 2005 I had put VC on it and it showed a problem so took it off to give it a clean and the vains inside were nackered when I touched one with a cotton bud it fell off  I will have another look as soon as I reinstall VC on my new laptop,I just don't know enough about what VC can do and what it can't which is why I asked the question  . johnb80 Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I thoughts were if you identified a problem via VC and then replaced the unit it may be cabling / ecu (unlikely) at fault hence no change with new unit fitted. Regards - JB Quote
Justice Posted October 27, 2005 Author Report Posted October 27, 2005 took the big air pipe off today and it had had a small split that I had tapped up and the little split had become a big big split so air was going directly into the throttle body,I had a new pipe on order and it came today so fitted it and it seems to have solved my problem,I won't know until VC tests it. Masked Marauder Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 If the pipe was between the MAF and the throttle body then unmetered air would cause your problems. Quote
