mazzo Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 Embarassingly simple question, but I never got a handbook! What is the red warning light immediately above the temp guage. Occasionally mine comes on and flashes. If you turn the engine off and restart it goes off. If you keep driving, it stays on for the whole journey no matter how long. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 The warning light is used to warn of low coolant level or over heating! flashing is low coolant, full on is overheating! check the coolant level? if ok check the wireing to the sensor? this has been known to fail! causing a few odd readings? the sensor is built into to the expasion bottle and is a non replaceable part :( if the light is comeing on perminantly and staying on ? but the temp gauge is reading normal? it sounds like you have a duff temp sensor? mazzo Posted October 28, 2005 Author Report Posted October 28, 2005 Thanks - that makes it very clear. :D Maybe because our drive is at an angle, it flashes for low coolant level - and then when on the road, turning off and restarting clears it because it's level. I will keep my eye on it. As for my temp, it never really gets out of the very first segment past cold and I've never seen it point vertically even when stuck in a summer traffic jam! Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 VR6's are known to run cool :D there's been a few posts on the subject, mine goes no futher than the start of the N and stays there, only time it ever rose above that was when a hose popped :D Quote
mazzo Posted November 1, 2005 Author Report Posted November 1, 2005 Yes, that's the same as mine. If it gets into the N raqnge, it is only just. Thanks for the help. B) Quote
