Apparently Sat Nav is the new target for car thieves. They look for an empty sat nav mount and break in then force open the glovebox as many people leave the unit locked in there.

So people..... always take your unit with you and preferably leave your glovebox empty and open.

My Clarion system (built in) is located in the centre compartment on the dash, open the lid, use it, close the lid. No evidence of SatNav at all.

You're absolutely right about SatNav thefts I had my van windows smashed twice and the head unit stolen, once whilst I was delivering a parcel top a customer.

Mine gets removed at ever stop and taken with me into the customers house, in really rough area's :( the mount gets removed from the screen and stashed under the seat :o at time when driveing through these area's I go as far as locking my self in! I remove my phones from their cradles and stash them in my pockets, everything of value is stashed out of sight but the sat nav has to stay put or else I get lost  a couple of months back I missed out on a gun fight between rival gangs outside a cusomers house :( oh! the joys of working in Birmingham

Its only common sense at the end of the day. Im in Coventry - I always use a handbrake lock, and I've got a disk lock for the wheel when I cant park outside my house.

That reminds me - does anyone know of a way to get remote central locking on a Mondeo mk1? There are loads of units out there, but none that support the 'double locking' feature on the old bangers.
