hi,

i have a factory fitted dvd multi media system built in to the centre console.

when i play copied DVDS or pirate DVDS it plays them in black and white or does not play at all.

the model number of the unit is MB 8000 and is manufactured by Visteon for FORD.

These same DVD'S play ok in the house and on a computer so it must be this unit in the galaxy.

Is their a software disc that can be obtained to change the region settings or does anyone know how to overcome this.

thanks

More info.

If you recorded onto DVD+R, did you set the booktype to DVD-ROM.

For better compatibilty use DVD-R.

You are of course backing up copies of titles you already own

I think the prob more than likeley is that the copied or pirate DVD's you are trying to play are NTSC, and the Visteon is set up for PAL.... It's nothing to do with the region settings, as most of the pirates will be region less.

Lots of previous postings on this subject. I know because I went down the same path myself.

After extensive searching for the answer to this it turns out that you cannot change the region coding on theses players, mainly because they are so basic and can only play PAL disks.

I've had the black and white problem as well using DVD+R but maust admit I havn't tried the -R disks yet as my origonal DVD recorder only did +R's.

As I said, it ain't the type of discs or the region setting, it is becauser you are trying to play NTSC discs on a PAL system. See if the displays have the option to change to NTSC...
