El Dingo Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 Before I take the wheels off... Under light braking - an annoying squeal. Is this a generic Galaxy thing, or did the mechanics forget to put the shims (are there anti-squeal shims?) back in when they changed the pads/discs when I bought the car? Any other ideas? :( Cheers. Quote
Justice Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 The pads shoud have an anti squeel pad on the back but maybe they just need a bit of copper ease on them. Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 I thought the pads were self-adhesive; in which case grease is exactly what you don't need! Maybe the adhesive has become detached or the pads are now fairly worn, either way you'll need to thoroughly clean the calipers in meths and replace the pads (no copaslip except on the back of the rotors if you replace them). ...Justice, you did remove the backing paper before fitting the pads didn't you... Justice Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 I just remembered when I did my pads on my Chrysler Voyager they had sticky pads on it,so yes I do know  My vw pads did'nt have them though hence why I used copperslip. Quote
