Is The Imobiliser/alarm Thatcham Cat 2?

Ive been getting some new insurance quotes and most of them want a Cat 2 Imobiliser fitted to my Sharan.

 

I told them that it has a factroy fit Alarm/Imobiliser but the insurance companies say that these were fitted from 98 onwards.

 

I have a VR6 Carat Sharan with the infared central locking on a 97 P plate.

 

I was wondering if any one new if this model is classed as a factory fit Cat 2?

 

I was peronally under the impression that this was classed as a Cat 2, might be wrong though.

all vw based cars are cat2 from 98R onwards :(
