im currently working on a '96 ford galaxy 2.0 DOHC (with an LPG conversion if that makes any difference) the engine is fine until warm, but then the engine stops and we lose spark for approx 10 mins (old ignition module tell tales) i have changed the EDIS4 unit for one i had in my garage (came off of a working Escort) and still the same problem occurs. i read the fault codes.... 3 codes were found in the memory

P1130 Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) - fuel trim (at limit)

P1131 Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) - not Switching Fuel trim (weak mixture)

P1132 Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) - not Switching Fuel trim (rich mixture)

also the times when the vehicle wont start.... my fault code readerS wont access the ECU (yes i have tried 2)

any help would be appreciated

PS: i've been an auto electrician for 10 years and have NEVER seen anything like this

I assume that you have tried two fault code readers and not two ECU's? My first thought was a faulty ECU as you are unable to access it with a fault code reader whilst the problem is occurring. But, I would have thought that would throw up a fault code?

The only time I was not been able to access the ECU - the keep alive fuse had blown.

Just a stab in the dark from a 'non auto electrician' - crankshaft position sensor???

yes i do mean i have tried 2 fault code readers. and i thought the crankshaft sensor too until i tested it on the bench and found it to be working correctly. my next test is going to be the "Engine Control Module Relay" (quoted by Autodata) but im not sure its going to work.... anyway i must have done samething really bad in a previous life to have this thrown at me!

hehehehe

Good thread topic, you have got a Galaxy and you have troubles!

Your posting in the technical help section of a Galaxy board. Perhaps a description of the problem in the thread topic would be more appropriate?
