Guest uberalles Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Hi all,I have a 2001 Ford Mondeo Estate, 1.8 Duratec HE engine, that I am seriously considering converting to LPG, whilst it is still under 5 years old and I believe I can get a grant.Does anybody have any good/bad/otherwise experiences of this that they can tell me of both in connection of the conversion, or of the running of the car post conversion.I live in Bakewell, North Derbyshire, has anybody used a converter garage in this area that they can recommend. Additionally, does anybody know if the Duratec HE engine has a cam belt that I need to get changed. I am currently on 45000 miles and need to start considering this if applicable.Any advice welcome,Thank you very much. Quote
Guest j_mchattie Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 My neighbour had the LPG conversion done on his BMW 7 series, at over 100,000 miles. It is seemless between the two fuels and has saved him loads of money. I dont have LPG, but would love it. As for the duratec cambelt, sorry - cant help. I canged mine, but its a Zetec (www.jimmycricket.com) Quote
Andrew T Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 I'm pretty sure the powershift grants scheme finished last May. Quote
morticiaskeeper Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 You will find a seamless transition between petrol & LPG. You will also find that drive more because you can afford to  I dread to think how much my fuel bills would be if I didn't have LPG - probably wouldn't go out much Quote
Guest Andy Posted November 20, 2005 Report Posted November 20, 2005 cam chain     Quote
