Having Trouble With The Selectors, Any Ideas?

I bought a galaxy ghia 1.9 tdi but been worried about how hard it is to get from 1st too reverse, i was thinking of lifting out the battery, and trying my hand at setting or resetting the link rods, anyone tried this, and how hard is it too get...Also the rear door dos'nt lock, is this likly too be the ecu unit or more likly too be the soliniod in the door,

First to reverse should be dead easy - just don't rush the change. If not, then there is something wrong.

 

First thing to check for door not locking is a broken cable in the loom between door post and door.

When you say something wrong, is that as in something wrong in the gearbox, or something worng with the selectors, i will take a look at the wiring, never thought of that, thought the solinoid was stuffed, anyone kbnow of anyone breaking a galaxy with air con, i have a broken pipe from the aircon pump, to the rear of the engine, looks a real pig too change, but fraud are looking over

I have noticed that your Gal is a 2003 model, is it not still under the three year warranty.
