Guest hunners Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Does anyone have details of the cable connections for a 2007RDS unit ? I want to install this in another of my vehicles (still Ford !) but need to know what the pinout is for the Red connector (4 twisted pairs plus screened red cable - speakers ?) and the yellow connector (6 cables - power etc ?) Any clues ?? Quote

sip Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Can you post a picture of the back of the unit? Quote
Guest hunners Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Thanks for welcome... I wasn't expecting such a quick reply. Attached photo of rear of unit. I guess that the red and yellow cable are the usual switched and unswitched positives and large brown maybe earth ? Screened cable in with what looks like speaker connections is red with blue metalic screening foil. Any clues ? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 red-switched poweryellow-perm livebrown-neutralgrey/blue-lighting/dimmer controllight green?-diagnostic plug the multi core? either speakers or amp? Quote
sip Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 The multi-core looks more like a connection to an amp otherwise it would have eight wires coming out of it for two front and two rear speakers, which is standard for all ISO-compliant units. Ford are famous for feeding sound thru an external amp -- our Scorpio used to have this. (I may be right, I may be wrong) Also, the unit appears to lack cooling slots which is a give-away for in-built amplifier. Quote
Guest hunners Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Thanks all. Yes I was a bit worried that this might just be a pre-amp unit as I saw something in a manual that suggested the 2007RDS was usually connected via an external power amp. I guess I'll just power it up and see if it gets hot !! Quote
steve67car Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 that gray multi core is for an amp if a granada unit its behind the dash above the glove box if a mondeo its by the o/s a piller if a galaxy its in the center consel   Quote
