i would of thought that the load that the air con takes up on a 12v system is the same ,be it dual c/c //or manual air con

i must say when my gal gets stuck in traffic when  ,or i get caught at the lights etc when :)

i do turn off power loads i dont need on,why waste more fuel then one needs to

What's the 12V system got to do with it?

The aircon loads the engine via the drive belt. There is a 2A load for the compressor clutch, that's all.

The aircon consumes about 3-5 bhp. So leaving it on is STUPID.

However, using it regularly to maintain the system integrity is NOT STUPID.

You inferred the aircon ran off 12V.

It doesn't.

It wastes energy directly taken from the crank.

So now you know.

I dint see any clue as to the age of your gal, I had a seat allhambra(90bhp)which had better trim levels than the other variants in the "old" model. My 2000x gal seems a much better ride, I'm told the whole chassis and suspension have been re-engineered in the post 2k model. If i went up a kerb ramp in my old model the doors seemed to flex in the rubbers..not so with my new babe! I think the larger wheels coupled with lower profile tyres also assist the improved handling. Yes there are minor niggles with this car, eg; a large turning circle springs to mind, but "horses for courses"? it's a brilliant tool, see how many taxi drivers use them..If it dont stand the pace it would not be used in that industry. I love it to bits, and my mate just bought one...sez it's the best thing since sliced bread
