Has anybody any ideas on this one.

The brake indicator light on the dash is permanently on, its not on with full intensity as when you have the handbrake on, just 1/2 intensity.

Brake fluid ok

rear pads ok

havent checked the front but i dont have wear indicators anyway.

Last option i can come up with is theres a short somewhere. :(

Sounds like an alternator winding or diode fault. Have it tested at a decent electrical workshop.

Funny you should say that.

I'd been away for 2 weeks and when i came back the battery was flat, ran the vehicle for a few weeks to try and get a charge into it but it still struggled in the mornings.

I've put a multimeter on it and it was giving out, i think, 14.5v when running.

Anyway, I ended up getting a new battery and all seems ok.

Now that you've said that about the alternator i think i'll have to find somewhere to get the check done.

cheers

Alternator diode or winding would make the battery warning light glow, not the brake warning light.

And a calcium battery that has gone fully flat will never recharge properly again unless you use a very expensive pulse charger.
