I have a Woodstock 54, it has the same CD mechanism I would guess, and it NEVER skips. I also have an older Casablanca in my other car and it never skips either.

:) sad to hear you did not buy from the net :( :(

but on a serious note the blaupunkt stuff is normally excellent so have it looked at making sure the cage is secure and then the radio is firmly fixed to the cage

if still skipping get it changed :) steve

Ha :) , gotta keep the locals/specialists in business cos nobody on EBuyer can answer the questions here. :( :)

Having a bit longer to play now its seems that the FM quality is excellent, the MW/LW is worse that the OE Scala Radio in fact its crap, the MP3 (from CD) seems good, but not sure about the manufactured CD

Er, Booster????

Wassat?

The aerial has a built in amp, this is powered via the aerial lead from the OE head unit, when you replace the head unit the power supply to the amp is lost hence no signal :) most good ICE shops or even places like where steve works :( sells them, hit the search button it's been covered a few times with pictures and links to what you need :(

The amp is still there it's built into the aerial lead, the means of powering it has been removed by fitting a non OE head unit, the adapter needed replaces this function

Aye, all the adaptor does is shoot 12v down the aerial lead in a safe way. It plugs onto the radio output for an automatic electric aerial.

Have you rewired the plug so the permanent live and the ignition live are reversed? With a Blaupunkt it won't forget the settings as they are stored in EEEPROM, but the clock will be wrong every time you turn it on and the radio won't work with the key out if you press the "on" button. If this is happening then you are drawing all the power for the radio through the low amperage ignition feed instead of the 10 ampere radio feed.

You can also buy an adaptor from there that lets you use your steering column remote if you have one. Everything they sell is genuine Blaupunkt.

Edit: I have remembered you have fully rewired yours in, so the lead above won't be what your after, all you want is the silver bit!

Hi Oggy,

The booster fit in the antenna line and just requires a live feed.

Autoleads sell an aftermarket booster, I'll try and get you the part number from work tomorrow.

Cheers

:( e118 maystar part same as autpleads if you use an iso to iso link lead as the photo shows in earlier post then you can leave all the cars wiring alone :(

Really sorry to go on here but the instructs don't match what I find.

I attach (hopefully) a scan of the connections from my radio instruction booklet.

When I look at the plug in the car I find the following (taken in poor light so I hope the colours are ok)

1. Purple (instructs show nc)

2. No connection (instructs show radio mute)

3. Black/While (instructs show nc)

4. Red/Brown

5. Red/While

6. Blue/White

7. Red (thicker wire)

8. Brown (thicker wire)

(Note: no yellow)

So do I swap 4. with 7. ??

And anyone any idea what is going on with 1, 2 and 3?

Cheers.

Oggy.

If you had the features then:

1. Automatic Sound. Uses the speed pulse for the speedometer to know how fast the car is travelling and turns the sound up or down as required to help counteract road noise.

2. Radio Mute. If you have a car kit that uses it's own speaker you connect the mute wire from the kit to this connection and when the phone rings it mutes the radio.

3. Sub Out, for a sub-woofer I think.

As for the reverse of the power wires, the thick red currently on pin 7 is the permanent live and should indeed be swapped with the ignition-on live on pin 4.

If you get a hold of a power feed adaptor for the aerial booster then the feed for that comes from pin 5.

Thanks MM,

Any idea what pin the radio lighting and dimmer is on. At the moment it seems to be on all the time rather than just when the car lights are on, and it seems to be at full brightness.

Or where I can find this out!

Cheers.

Thanks MM,

To complete the picture I thought I would post the schematic on the top of the Scala radio while it is out of the car.

FYI: This is what I believe to be the standard equipment on my car which is a 2002 Alhambra SE.

For pin numbers I think you need to count from the bottom right hand pin. I.e. the one above pin 1 is pin 2, the one to the left of pin 1 is pin 3 etc. This confirm the dimmer (which I assume is the sunny thing!) is on Pin 6.

Hope someone finds this useful.

Regards.

Oggy.
