hi everybody again

i was having my W reg tdi cutting to half power every 1 to 1 half miles ignition of on go again about a week ago the car started to sputter and jerk for a minute or so then it picked up and went like a train full power up or down hills no probs at all i thought that it had fixed its self alas its going again but not so often i can go 30 odd miles now before it goes

also i have noticed that most of you guys are talking of geting 40 pluss to the gal on average i can only manage 30 ish i travel half on motorway and half in town i dont speed and i drive steady she pushes a lot of smoke when i put my foot down and change down

can any one help me with my two probs i,m going mad

hmm.... going mad.....and your second problem? dropped apostrophies? :o

 

As I think was said before, this sounds like a vacuum pipe problem. Examine and replace all dodgy vacuum pipework. Its common for these pipe to split and it might be as simple as a pipe disconnected or loosely fitted. The vacuum is essential for correct turbo operation. Erratic vacuum causes the ECU to trip into limp home mode. There is quite a bit of vacuum gear to examine, it also power the brake servo.

do you think that it could be course of heavy fuel consumption as well

...I actually recommend a course of heavy alcohol consumption, try purple nasties with vodka chasers (makes your sick look pretty) that should help re-establish sanity and perspective! :D
