Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 You have switched the sidelights on first, before trying to get the glovebox light to work again, I hope ............ Quote
soptom Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 I too would suggest trying it with the lights on, it will help you see what way the switch fits, I changed the bulb and replaced it in about two minutes but I can't remember any difficulties in particular so can't help really. Quote
JDF Posted October 4, 2005 Author Report Posted October 4, 2005 Thanks Ivor & Soptom for your reply. I had tested it with the side lights on, that's why I knew it was working when it was out of the recess.Last night I had another play - I pulled the light out again and refitted and it works now. It was a tighter fit when I removed it a second time, therefore I think the on/off arm must have got jammed in the hinge mechanism, because it went back easily and turns off the light once the upper glove box lid is closed only a little way. Cheers again!!!JDF. Quote
mikej Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Can someone tell me where the glovebox light switch is on the mk2 gals as my light is on all the time . Cannot find it , i think i have a snapped hinge so if it is switched by these which side is it left or right ?thanksmike.... :angry2: Quote
chromedome Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Done this the other day on mine. Remove the glove box first. In the hole left by the glove box, just to the left of centre on the bottom edge is where the switch fits, you'll probably find it dangling by it's wire. The switch has to be glued into it's mounting or it pops off again as soon as you use the glove box. I used Super Glue and left it for five minutes before reassembling. Works fine now. Quote
mikej Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 Thanks all for the info after 2 yrs my glove box light is no longer constantly on , switch is hopeless at staying put so 1 x self tapping screw later and all is well . That should give my battery a breather  Quote
