Justice Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 Just wondering what checks are there to see if the injectors are working correctly and if not what sort of money to replace them. Symptoms are it feels like its not 100% under full foot to the floor driving a bit like a 5 cyl feels like. Quote
dipsomaniac Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 Had a problem with one of my injectors not spraying a couple of months ago. I think dirt entered the system when the main air intake came off the throttle body. Symptoms are a VERY noticable loss of power and misfire. I don't think there are any easy way to test the injectors, the only way to confirm that the injector is faulty is to remove it and test it. Ford diagnosed mine (after approx 20 hours labour). I got all 6 reconditioned at Lucas - Quote
Justice Posted October 2, 2005 Author Report Posted October 2, 2005 Cheers Dipsomaniac Not long done a full service including leads etc, at first I thought it might be a dodgy lead so tried one of the long old ones on every plug but no difference , might try one of the old plugs or try and find my orange spark plug falshy thingys to see if it may be a duff new plug. If not then I will get the injectors serviced (why not I've replaced almost everything else lol!) it's not bad but I can feel it .When I brought the Sharan I thought I got myself a nice looking bargain but looking nice was a about it as I have since found out that if it can wear out it has.ah well when finished it will be a new car  Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 As dipsomaniac suggests take a look at the coil pack first before tearing down the injection system, you seem to have replaced all of the ignition system and left out the major part  the coil pack is known to break down :( especially this time of year when it starts to get a bit damp! spray it with a drop of water and run the engine, see if there are any loose sparks floating around? Guest marcusheawood Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 ...and don't forget the MAF, I know it's not a diseaseal, but if the cars old enough or has done enough miles that could make it feel a bit flat. After all if the thing were an oilburner you'd be on the 3rd or 4th one already! Quote
johnb80 Posted October 2, 2005 Report Posted October 2, 2005 And still quids in with the money saved on the obscene amounts of fuel the V6 consumes  Regards - JB Quote
