Guest Mercwarrantyman Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 I purchased a recon gearbox for the trusty galaxy - direct from a main dealer due to very hard and infrequent selection of 4th gear - a supposed fault with this box..When fitted and on road test - guess what NO 3rd gear at all - revs but no go !!Phoned the ford dealer and informed them of the problem and was told I hadn't fitted it right ??? Although every other gear was ok - maybe your techs are this crap ? Took into Ford to look at and confirm the next day , I told them if it was knackered I wanted another new one - after all it had only done about 3 miles.. Later in the day told they had stripped it and in fact 3rd gear was sheared so they needed to order another gear and a few parts and if i didn't authorise this , i would have to pay to get the box rebuilt and car back ! F*cking cheek !! Anyway after about 20 phone calls to the t*ssers at the customer services (over a week) who didn't have a clue about anything technical & they kept telling me " we will only do the cheapest repair" which give them their due was , by Quote
