Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help. I had a problem with the water ubder the seat thinggy, well my central locking box got wet, and needless to say no longer works. So I have decided to bin the box and replace it with an after market 4 door central locking kit and alarm so i can do away with the infared activation of the central locking to put a radio one in. My problem is that the door will not except the actuators that came with the kit so i'm trying to use the new kit with the existing door motors for the switch. Has anyone done this?? if so what should I bee looking for.

Thanks

P.S, is my gal a Mk1 one, it's an N reg 96/97??

IIRC it has been decided that in order to add a secondary remote locking kit that you need the original ECU left in place! or need to do a lot of rewiring!

in order to fit an after market locking kit you would need to operate the locking catches on each door and also on the rear hatch and petrol flap! to do this you will need to install actuators in every door! also you would loose the dead locking and global closure function of the windows and sunroof if you these features?

if you still have the original ECU take a look on Ebay under Sharan a guy is selling repair instructions for the ecu  from looking at the pictures it involves wireing in a couple of extra relays to the loom/ECU and it all works again?

Thanks for the reply.

I couldn't find the repair of the ecu on ebay, but i did find a guy selling new ecu's, can you tell me if you just plug in the new unit and set up the key and all will be well or do I have to get ford to do something??

IIRC you will need to reprogram in the remote keys but not into the PATS, check before you splash out that it is the right ECU for your model? there are a couple of them! so be sure you get the right one!

 had the same problem

you can link the wiring under the seat and the use a pos locking alarm on the original wiring and motors

this then works very well with an after market alarm with no need for extra motors or relays
