Have had problems with trip display going off on 2002 2.3 Gal. Several visits to dealer returned with no fault found. Eventually replaced instrument cluster and after revisits to dealer because of programming faults the problem still came back. 3 or 4 restarts and the display came back on. Put up with this as car was to be replaced. I have just taken delivery of new oil burning 150PS and the display has failed in the same way 2 times in 2 weeks. Am I cursed? or is there a problem with the control system. Anyone had similar problems?

I have the same problem with my 2005 130tdi. The problem on my Galaxy seems to be a contact behind where the trip zeroing button is. Applying pressure to the button gets the display going (but not permanently). I'll try the local dealer for a solution - but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Hi, got exactly the same symptoms on same model, dealers say no code, no problem, duh!! All I would add is that when it disappears and then comes back on it is like stating anew journey as far as the car is concerned with av mpg only being calculated on the time since the display is seen. :P

had the same thing happen once in 4 years but the problem never reappeared but had the instrument cluster replaced since (for a non related problem)
