mike99 Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 I purchased my first galaxy last night, its a 99 zetec tdi 110. It has central locking but no remote keys? is this normal? can I just buy a key and program it to the car? Thanks, Mike. Quote
Justice Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 How do you know it has central locking. If it locks everything on the key dose not mean it has itThe domes on the inside of the car maybe emptyIf it dose have C/L yes you can buy a key and get it programedIf it is only on the key you can buy an upgrade kit that you can connect to the boot lock and it will operate via a remote fob . Hope this helps ;) Quote
mike99 Posted September 22, 2005 Author Report Posted September 22, 2005 I always thought central locking was where you could lock all the doors with the key in one lock. How do I check it? What are the domes? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 I always thought central locking was where you could lock all the doors with the key in one lock. It is, as your is a 99 Zetec remote locking was an option it was only standard on the Ghia :P as Justice suggests go for an after remote locking kit, if you hit the search button you should find a few posts on the topics and a few suggestions on what kits to go for? IIRC there is one that has remotes that clip onto the keys and look like an OE part! ;) the domes are the OE remote recievers, located above the rear veiw mirror and rear hatch in the head lineing Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 Apparently this kit fits the Sharan and works ok! so cant see why it wont fit on a Galaxy? could be wrong though? mk3 golf remote locking kit Quote
Justice Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 The Golf kit is different but the place you have linked to do the Sharan kit for Quote

Guest EVSS Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 yes very good reliable units, but then i suppose i am bound to say that, having supplied and fitted them for 14 years..... Quote

Hope this helps  Of course it does. Central locking locks all doors from one lock. Non central locking means having to lock each door individually. Its quite easy to tell the difference Also the OP can't just buy a key and expect it to give him remote locking if there is no remote locking unit fitted. Quote
