Guest Simon S Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 I have recently bought a gal, which was supplied with only one electronic key and one manual key. I have heard horror stories of people losing the key and having to replace chunks of the engine management system and door locks at great cost. Do I need to get another key made to protect me from this type of expensive problem? If so what is the cheapest way to get one. Quote
Andrew T Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 I shouldn't worry, both have a microchip in and should start the car - it's just Ford were too tight fisted to give you a second remote fob. I would take the remote key head apart and glue the micochip in though. It can fall apart and the chip can drop out, as I found out last week. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 Your lucky  on your model you only need two working keys to program in a new key, so as long as you get a proper key with the right chip in it and you get it cut to your locks then your ok, try a local locksmith? or pick up a key of Ebay!
