Buncers Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 Mine's not due to get changed for another 10k or 1 year. I plan to get it done in plenty of time - or maybe change the car (whichever comes sooner). Quote

Guest marcusheawood Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 ... You mean you didn't change it straight after you bought it? Man that's rotten luck. ...Mind you, I knew a mechanic who'd had a Toyota Corolla estate in for a lubrication service. He duly changed everything and started the car leaving it ticking over while he went to put the kettle on, heard the engine stop, went to investigate thinking that it had stalled and couldn't restart it.Turned out that the cambelt had snapped while ticking over and the engine had bent two valves and snapped a rocker! Took some explaining to the customer; in the end he had to do the labour gratis and the punter paid for the parts! How would you guys have reacted on this forum? ...exactly! Quote
Masked Marauder Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 TBH, it was at the top of my "To Do" list. The car came with 3 months warranty, and there was more pressing things to do, was away on holiday etc. at the time. I was not too worried, if it snapped in warranty I would not have to fix it anyway. I was waiting for the first good days weather that coincided with my days off work. The belt did not wait! I said that I had had the car four months, it was actually three and a half. But thats life. All in it was about 10 hours of my time (including doing the head work) and Quote
