Guest imperialdata Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 Any idea where the immobiliser is located on a 1998 Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi (Galaxy clone)? Have looked in the 'wells' under the front seats and it isn't there. I have a non-starting car and VAG-COM is pointing to that. Thanks in advance Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 up under the dash between the steering column and the cjb, remove the cover to the cjb, then remove the lower half of the dash and there it is! are you sure it the pats uinit and not the key? have you tried another key? and dont remove/unplug it while the battery is connected! it could mean that the pats unit is then no longer reconised by the PCM and it will need reprogramming into the PCM! not sure if VAG COM can do that? Guest imperialdata Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 Thanks for the reply VR6. Some questions:a) What is the cjb? Haven't got another key, presume they need programming even if I get another.c) The pats unit you refer to is the immobiliser right? What does it look like? Think the registered VAG-COM can do the key programming but I may be wrong. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 CJB. Central Junction Box, the CJB replaced the fuse board on the pre 98 models with an all in one unit incorperating the relays and all electrical control for things like the central locking, electric windows etc.... oops only one key! not good! you really need a spare for those times when you lose one  PATS. Passive Anti Theft System, works by reading the chip in the key via a senseing ring mounted around the ignition switch, the ring gives out DC current which enables the chip which transmits a coded signal what does it look like? a black square box with two cables going to it, one from the PCM unit and the other from the sensor ring around the ignition barrel, mounted by two fixings up under the dash Quote
