Hi Chaps

Just been looking at those pics of sharanfxs' ride. I like the look of that K&N air filter he has fitted. I was wondering if one of those would fit straight into my Mk1 Galaxy without any mods?.

Also, would there be any difference in performance, i currently have the standard galaxy filter fitted.

Yes you can fit one :( but be aware there is a line of thought that they can lead to the early demise of MAF sensors  K&N's are a oiled filter, the oil is used to trap the fine particles, this oil can be sucked into the intake system and contaminate the MAF  if you really want one try a Green Cotton Filter these are of the non oiled typed so you should have no problem :P

Any gains are likely to be marginal, and proberly percieved (placebo effect) rather than actual.

Some mates and I tried these years ago on our 'boy racers' but on their own there was no difference. To increase performance they have to be just one of a number of other modifications to get anything worth while

Apart from virtually immeasurable improvements in turbo dynamics (wind up time), there will be no more power or torque as these are set by the ECU map and sensors.

The only way to improve performnace is via the remapping/chipping/tuning box route. If you go down this route, the filtering may become important in achieving max power (not torque)...but I doubt it.
