Thicko Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 I need to top up the power steering fluid on my 2004 Galaxy. I went to my local accessory shop and they gave me some Comma AQ3. I asked if it was to Ford Spec NO52146 VX00 and they said they'd check with the manufacturer. Later they phoned and said DON'T USE IT go to your main dealer for the right stuff. Will my Ford main dealer have any fluid that says MEETS SPEC NO52146 VX00 on the outside? What do other people use? Thanks. Quote
seatkid Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 You can get the correct stuff at VW or Seat dealers... Quote
Thicko Posted September 17, 2005 Author Report Posted September 17, 2005 Surely they will have a different spec no though. They will have VW or SEAT spec won't they? I don't trust VW or Seat dealers any more than Ford dealers. They have a greater chance of making more profit if they give me the wrong fluid than the right stuff. If my power steering works beuatifully for the life of the car their service department won't make hundreds of pounds fixing my power steering! Quote
Thicko Posted September 17, 2005 Author Report Posted September 17, 2005 Might even work beautifully! Quote
seatkid Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 Even though its a ford badge, your car is made by VW at Palmela in Portugal, it has a VW engine etc etc. The Ford PS fluid is VW spec fluid rebadged. I'm surprised it needs topping up, has it got a leak? You do realise you check it when its hot? Trust me, I'm a doctor.....not Quote
