I have a 1998 2.3 ghia X (petrol). About a month ago it started to lose power when the engine was warm.

This would sometimes happen when accelerating, but sometimes it happens randomly. For example: after driving at a steady 60 for half an hour and then wanting to speed up to 70. The engine loses all power for 5 - 30 seconds and then kicks in again with a lurch.

The garage has already replaced the MAF sensor and driven it around a lot, and that's done nothing. The spark plugs have been checked, but nothing there.

Any ideas?

Thanks, I'll try that and see if it works. (Now, when I say "I'll try that" I really mean...the garage will try that - which is where it is at the moment and I'm worried I'll never see my beloved Galaxy again...)

Well, the Lamberth sensor thing didn't work.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
