The legal standpoint is that you have 'x' years warranty, parts are replaced etc under warranty and when your 'x' years is up, you pay. The warranty is not extended even though new parts are fitted.

Strange but true, the new parts warranty only lasts only as long as the existing warranty! but if you had paid for the part and had the work done under the warranty then you have what ever warranty is given on that part!
