I have CC in my galaxy, It was playing up but Fords replaced a switch and it seems fine now, nice and cold, not flashing anymore etc.

But, it was a bit cold last night so I set the CC to 28 to warm it up a bit, a few minutes later it was still blowing cold!!!! It started getting warmer after 5min but not too warm. Is it supposed to take this long?

When it's cold outside, mine is giving warm (not hot) air with 3/4 of a mile. After 3 miles or so it's hot.

The aux heater is supposed to kick in when the outside air temperature is 5 degrees or below. There does however, seem to be a large variation in this, with some people saying theirs comes on at 10 degrees, others less than 5.

No, you can. Get a 10A mini fuse and unclip the temperature switch from the passenger side wiper linkage. Remove the switch from the connector and put the fuse in it's place. Start the car and it should fire up and run until the engine temperature is 75 degrees.

Replace the switch with a fuse for winter time, the aux heater would then run every time you start the engine from cold.
