Guest mattkaye Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 ;) Can any body help?? My trip computer display has dissappeared. I started the car today and noticed there was no display. I have checked the fuse board and can't see any broken fuses. The manual (yes I actually read it!!) doesn't label a fuse for the trip computer. I think as the car is only 6 months old I will return it to ford. but if it is simple it will be quicker to do it myself. Any ideas?? Many thanks in advance Matt Quote
Guest mattkaye Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005  This is really strange...... its now back on?? Any one experienced a similar fault? I have booked it in for ford to look at. Quote
the bus Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 I had the same problem a little over 6 Quote
mikec Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Have experienced the same problem on my 2002 2.3 Gal several times. Each time dealer found no fault! Eventually replaced instrument cluster. After revisits because of wrong programming the fault still came back. As it was due for replacement I put up with the problem. I have just taken delivery of a new oil burning 150PS Gal and within 1000 miles the trip computer display has failed 2 times. This must be a problem with the electronic control system although being intermittent it is difficult to rectify. I thought my problems would have gone with the new car. Anyone experienced similar problems? Quote
Guest blatters Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 Same problem occurred last year. The interesting thing for me was that it took place just after I'd stopped the engine and then started it again quickly (to move along a few feet). But it was a one-off and has not come back since. Clearly an embedded gremlin that nobody has quite got to the bottom of yet. Blatters Quote
georgiaalana Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Hi, Same here, went off, had a fiddle with the fuses, found nothing, switched the ignition back on and there it was, very strange. Quote
Denis Posted October 3, 2005 Report Posted October 3, 2005 Mine does the same, every couple of weeks. A friend who works for Ford is currently trying to find out if Ford know about this and what causes it... will update you if he comes up with anything. Quote
Denis Posted October 15, 2005 Report Posted October 15, 2005 Reply from my friend at Ford: "unfortunately its VW based, all the platform parts (IP, engine, transmission) are VW and our quality area do not track them, however VW do." Quote
sip Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Maybe slighty off-topic, but in a similar vein...... is this for real??? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Unlock-your-Ford-Gal...1QQcmdZViewItem If it IS for real, will it work on my 1996 2.0L GLX Auto? Quote
Tigger Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Our over car is an Audi tdi A2. I can remember being told that there is alot more in the computer in that car as well. Can't find the link though sorry. My point is there could be more in the Gal trip Com? Quote
Guest keef Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Have had the same problem on my 2 year old galaxy since it was new all I do is turn the ignision off turn it on again and it normally cures the problem. Quote
Guest NickC Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Have had this fault on and off (literally!) since car was new, Lifestyle Ford where never able to find fault while under warranty, normally brake warning light stays on and central display goes off for a couple of days. They had it in yesterday and say I need new instrument cluster at Quote
