Guest bicksvilla Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Hi I'm new here and I was just wondering does anyone know of a way of using a portable MP3 player through the Aux connection on a factory fitted Ford Sat Nav unit I have an 04 plate Galaxy Ghia. I currently use one of those illegal FM radio transmitters which is far from ideal as it suffers interference dependant on the weather and closeness to other sources of radio interference and as the sat nav unit has an aux connection (for DVD connection I presume) I thought it would be an easy thing to do. Alas it seems thats not the case, went to my local independant car audio place and they said it wasn't possible due to the unit needing to know Ford protocols, there was a solution but it was only good if the vehicles engine was turned off (ie not very useful at all) Does anyone know of a solution? As its driving me mad, I generally hate listening to the radio (esp as my fave stations are MW and reception is dire) and I find 6 CD's a bit limiting for 12 hour stints in the car (Its a taxi) cheers for any replies Quote
Dally Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 You can do this. You will need to buy an aux interface which plugs in the back of your satnav unit. It will need a power supply and once fitted will give you composite video input and L+R phono input for audio. Quote
