Are you sure you have an alarm? you have the big ugly sensor pods on the B posts? the reason I ask is that the red LED on the door is primarily for the immobiliser and not the alarm! IIRC you have had wire failure to the doors before  sounds like another case of it

yes i have the pods on the pillars but i thought there was an alarm unit some where.also is this a common fault or would it be better to get half a gallon of petrol and a match and be like a dog and go WOOF

Most common fault with the alarms ecu is the units total dilsike of water! check the Ecu under the passenger seat? if this unit is/has been getting wet it could be toast!

this ecu is an all in one unit, central locking, global closure, courtesy lighting and alarm  the fact that you have lost the LED on the door points toward a loom failure due to the PATS system having priority control of it, meaning that when you remove the ignition key and lock the car it should flash to show itS immobilised and not that the alarm is on!

I've just had another look when you lock drivers door using the keys the doors will all lock but you also used to get a second lock sound which you don't any more and the door panel will not light up at all.

Also is there a fuse for this as well as the wiring faults?
