Hi Guys

Heard a few of you mention something called VAG-COM.

As a new driver and newbie galaxy owner, just wondered what it was.

It is a hardware interface & software to communicate between a PC and the cars data (OBDII) port. This allows you to change settings, reset faults, run diagnostics, enable features that are disabled on lower spec models etc.

Does anyone know if VAG-COM can be used to turn on the "miles left in tank" function on the MK2 Ghia fuel computer as I really miss this from my Mondeo.

I don't know, but last time I had this I found it meaningless. The miles remaining would change eratically depending on speed and gear etc, so one second I would have say 20 miles left, the next 10, then 8, then 15 etc.

Are there any functions it can turn on, on a MK2 Galaxy Zetec (2001, 51)? Dosen't have a fuel computer on it though.

Nah, but its fun seeing how far you can coast with zilch left in it ;)

according to the 'Master TEchnician' at JRFords the zetec has the trip computer but it is not enabled, after they changed the instrument cluster he did not enable it cos he thought it was a zetec, there were rumours that vag-com could turn it on
