Ogben Schmutzel Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Hi All, At least that is what I think it stands for!! I am still wanting to replace the Scala unit on my 02 Alhambra with a radio/cd with mp3 capability but I am being told that it won Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 On VW's and several other manufacturers the radio is coded to the car, all this =means that if you frefit the unit into the car you wont need the code as the ECU recognises it and all is ok, if you stick in another OE unit you will need the code however! I have no problem with my VW T4 and T5 vans when I swap out the OE head unit or stick the original back in try it and see, pull the unit and see if the car starts? quid says it will :D Quote
steve67car Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 oggy you will have no truble changing the radio just use the correct part for the radio aerial also remove the blue amp/aerial control lead out the iso block and swop the powers over and job done :D have done this sort of stuff on can equipted cars loads of times in the last 4 years since can-bus has been around  Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted September 7, 2005 Author Report Posted September 7, 2005 Thanks, but I won't take the bet - cos I'll bet you are right  Any idea how to get the radio out of the Alhambra? - I don't have the four holes like the link you gave on getting the radio out of a focus :D No obvious screws - nothing, except plastic trim. :D Cheers.Oggy. steve67car Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 :D you have two thin slots at the bottom corners of the unit and thats the removal tools slot. two thin pieces of metal with 45 degree tips push in and pull out unit  Quote

italiastar Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 I replaced mine with a Kenwood - the Kenwood keys work or i believe you can get Blaupunkt ones - my only problem is FM reception which is not as goos as the scala unit. Quote
steve67car Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 did you use the vag aerial booster as the original has i built in booster :D Quote
italiastar Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 I didn't - I thought that was just for AM boost - does it also work for FM - if so where can I get one. Quote
