Guest Humdinger Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Hi Just bought a second hand Galaxy Ghia 2.3 Automatic 1998. Unfortunately there was no handbook. So I have a few questions...What is the small button on the lower part of the dash to the left of the steering wheel? Also how do I go from D to gears 1,2, or 3. I pushed the button in on the gear selector and pulled back but it did not move past D. Lastly the Philipps CD player - a message comes up which says "Check Changer". I've taken a look at the 4 CD changer and can't see anything wrong - any suggestions welcomed.ThanksHumdinger Quote

seatkid Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 What is the small button on the lower part of the dash to the left of the steering wheel? :D Whatever you do.... DON'T press this button..... :lol:How the hell would I know without a picture? :D Also how do I go from D to gears 1,2, or 3. I pushed the button in on the gear selector and pulled back but it did not move past D. Sounds like a faulty gear selector Lastly the Philipps CD player - a message comes up which says "Check Changer". Guest sufc38 Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Hi Humdinger, On my 98' Sharan VR6 to move from 'D' to use 3 & 2 gears you don't push in the selector button on the Lever, you just move the lever from 'D' to 3 or 2 & holding the button i will actually stop you changing. You only need to push the button in to move into 1st gear from 2nd. Like Seatkid so eloquently says without seeing a picture of the button, it's pretty difficult to guess. Hope this helps Mike Quote
soptom Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Press the button..................You know you want to. :D Quote
Guest MATT Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Press the button and see what happens, you never know, it might double your mpg, or it might eject the passengers when they start backseat driving. MATT lol Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 What is the small button on the lower part of the dash to the left of the steering wheel? When you say lower dash to the left are you talking about the round button to the left of the heater control? if so it's the main switch for the rear cabin heater! above the rear passenger side C post on the head lineing are a set of rotary conrols, fan speed and heat output, these wont work till the button on the dash is pushed! try it and see :D Oh! and if anything goes bang or bursts in flames I didnt say push it ok? Quote
