Installing A Cd Player Into A '96 Fiesta Encore

Hi there,

I'm a newbie to the forums so hello to everyone! <_<

Hopefully you will be able to help me...

I have just bought a CD player for my other half's fiesta and have attempted to install it, so far without success. <_<

The Ford wiring loom has been butchered around a bit and although I have managed to connect the speaker wires to the ISO B plug that came with the stereo, I am having problems connecting the Ford loom to the following:

+12v Power

Earth

As far as I recall there are 5 wires on the 'A' side of the Ford loom:

1 x Blue/Black

1 x Green/Black

1 x Green/Black (Thicker wire)

2 x Orange/Black

Now the problem I have is that I am unaware which wire connects to what. All I know is that the 12v Memory wire is one of the orange/black wires (according to the Haynes manual anyway) The Haynes manual doesn't specify the colour codes for the +12v Power and the Earth wires.

To throw yet another spanner into the works, I have read in many places that Ford typically use a yellow wire for the 12v Power - However there is no yellow wire in sight.

I understand that the Encore is quite a basic version, and as such may use a different loom to those in the middle/top of the range. However, despite searching on the net I have had no success.

If any of you guys/gals can help then it would be greatly appreciated and also make the missus alot happier.

Many Thanks for your help and sorry for the long post,

Steve.

Just to add -

I have tried different wiring combinations and have also had no success. I haven't yet checked the fuse box (I believe fuse 22 is related to the in-car stereo?)

It may be possible that I have to run a cable from the battery to provide power to the unit and may also have to earth the stereo on a metal part of the chassis. I did attempt to locate the earth wire on the metal in the stereo cavity but this didn't seem to be sufficient either!

<_< eat humble pie so to speak and get a specialist to look at it as he should check the speakers are also in phase and every thing is right as that can cause problems and you will not want a repair bill so pay the
